Work out with me: the 20-minute holiday workout to do in your hotel | Weekend

As a younger man who liked to go out late and party on holidays, I would often feel as if I needed a holiday to recover from one. These days — I am 40 now with two small children — my holidays are much more about coming back feeling rested and re-energised. Exercise has a large part to play in that, and I find a quick workout at the start of each day is the best way to help me to go home feeling restored.

I absolutely love to train first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, but after a coffee. The caffeine gives me a good energy boost and there is evidence to suggest that before a workout it helps the body
